Despite their debut album twisting around several events, emotions and experiences, one message is clearly present within all of their music: “Rock, rock, rock with me.” SYRUM, a band originated from Hamilton, Ontario, officially began their career in the fall of 2007 as a small project between member Donna Krochak, Marco Bilich, and Simon Gagnon.
With plans for a debut 10 song album, and the signing of Producer Paul Roussel, the band roster expanded to include Zach Gagnon as well. All four members, coming from different forms and styles of music, help to create a definition for SYRUM which projected a music style that included hard rock, alternative, punk and even jazz.
While being referenced as a harder version of The Cranberries and Bif Naked, Paul Roussel has explained that SYRUM does not sound like anyone, which can only be a good thing.
With their debut CD “Only Human” being released May 10th at the Rogers Spring Music Festival, SYRUM has been getting a lot of buzz. The CD was first previewed from a live performance with SYRUM at the Canadian Music Week, Canada’s largest music convention.
While the CD has not yet been released, the CD has already claimed 200 pre-orders and has taken responsibility for a rapidly growing fan-base. The CD produced by Paul Roussel and recorded at Mastermind Studios in Hamilton, Ontario, lists 10 original tracks written by Simon Gagnon, Donna Krochak and Marco Bilich.
With hard rock songs such as “Closure,” alternative rock songs such as “Fine Eternity,” and punk songs such as “Waiting For You,” it is hard to not find a song that will fit any mood. SYRUM is currently in the works for a large promotional tour, radio play, a music video directed by Rob Chalmers (“The X-Files,” “The Skulls III,” and “Cellar Dwellers”), and much more.
